Halloween is right around the corner and parents all over the country are shopping for infant Halloween costumes. Thank goodness those hard, plastic masks are no longer considered to be cool costumes for kids. It’s hard for the most experienced Trick or Treaters to have fun when they are uncomfortable and this is certainly the case when it comes to baby. The good news is that Halloween outfits for infants are more safe and comfortable than ever which makes for a much more pleasant night of Trick or Treating for the entire family.
Most infant Halloween costumes are little more than plush, sleepers with hoods that are designed to resemble popular characters from television, the movies or straight off the pages of a storybook. They are cute, and cuddly and easy to wear. In fact, a cute sleeper might be all the Halloween costume that you need for baby so long as you add a little bit of decorative face paint to complete the overall look.
FACE PAINTING
Select safe paints that are water based and manufactured specifically made for use on the skin. Look for the stamp that indicates that the paint is FDA approved. Use brushes with baby soft bristles that won’t scratch or irritate your baby’s face. A baby’s skin is much more sensitive than that of an older child, so you might want to do a test on a tiny spot a few days before Halloween.
KEEPING YOUR BABY HALLOWEEN COSTUME SIMPLE
Older children may enjoy being painted to look like little ghouls and zombies with solid green faces painted like Frankenstein. However, I would advise that you not paint your little ghost’s face white all over. If you are planning to do some face painting for a baby Halloween costume, keep it simple. The odds are that baby’s first Halloween will be just as tiring as it was enjoyable for both you and your sweet baby. You may find that removing your baby’s first Halloween costume is much more complicated than putting it on. Keeping the amount of face paint and clothing that must be removed after the festivities to a minimum is an excellent plan of action that will keep the level of stress down and make sure that memories of baby’s first Halloween costume are pleasant ones.
CHOOSING A FACE PAINTING DESIGN FOR BABIES
Whether baby’s first costume is a bunny costume, a kitty cat costume or a puppy dog outfit, a few whiskers or a tiny picture painted on baby’s cheek will be so cute! If you want to take it a step further, paint the tip of baby’s nose pink or whatever color looks good with the rest of the costume. If you have several children get everybody in the fun! How cute would an entire family of baby kittens or puppy dogs look walking from door to door shouting Trick or Treat?
